NAME: Alastor
AGE: ~4700, appearance defaults to mid-20s
CANONPOINT: Post-anime
YEARS SINCE ARRIVAL: 1
NOTEWORTHY CR:
- Vanitas: Force Partner, albeit by accident after a high stakes battle pushed them to sync up mid-fight. Initially a curiosity, as a living human who is somehow purely of darkness, the feral gremlin boy ended up someone for him to trade antagonistic snark with. Still, it's not all negative, as most who grew up in more civilized lands don't quite understand a demon's relationship with violent situations.
- Kosuke: On the opposite end of the spectrum, a being of pure light who nonetheless doesn't seem like an angel, Kosuke was a subject of curiosity...and of protectiveness, being a sickly looking teenager. Though Alastor is generally awkward with people who are too associated with Greek myth, the boy's blunt honesty makes him easy to trust. To some extent, he's taken it on himself to help the sheltered godling learn about the real world.
- Mitsuri: An optimistic and strong woman who can easily turn Alastor into an awkward mess. Her straightforward cheer helps knock him out of his tendency toward cynical overthinking, and he obviously finds her attractive for it. Her ability to pick him up near effortlessly tends to fluster him, but it also means he's always willing to trust her at his side when fighting.
- TurmÅ›: Someone with a clear crush on Alastor, who tends to use thunderstorms as an excuse to invade his personal space. Alastor is generally sympathetic to his fear of lightning, if awkward about it, and willing to indulge requests for specific weather. He's probably tried to figure out some way to help with the lightning phobia, in part because he's not sure how to feel about someone obviously liking him while being deathly terrified of the force he embodies.
- Akira: Another good natured teenager that Alastor's taken under his wing. He enjoys the boy's sass, and will sometimes slip naturally into double teaming someone with snarky commentary. He says he reminds him of someone called 'Captain Blue Jr.' if he was a few years older and a bit more rebellious. They probably help each other workshop dramatic entrances, the dorks.
- Sora: An impulsively heroic and selfless type that Alastor can't help but admire. Sora's earnest curiosity about demonkind is refreshing and comforting to him, after having grown used to the idea that his species is something he could at best hope people would tolerate. They'd each put themselves in danger to protect the other without a second thought, leading to occasional arguments about needing to pay more attention to their own safety.
- Crowley: A fellow demon, leaving Alastor surprised when it turned out they were able to bond over the more exciting aspects of human culture. They often encourage each other's more dramatic tendencies, including a penchant for rock music that was the first thing they realized they had in common. Without even trying, Crowley has become a source of confidence for Alastor, making him feel less like a freakish outlier as a demon who feels protective of humanity. Also, someone he can discuss immortal things with, and who understands his perspective as someone whose typical appearance is more like a suit he 'wears' than an aspect of his identity.
STRONGEST TRAIT: Honor
DARKEST TRAIT: Pride
FORCE PARTNERS: Vanitas
FORCE ABILITY DETAILS: Unversed swarm around Alastor, gorging on his dark lightning before stampeding the enemy side of the battlefield in a destructive wave of electrified claws, fists, and fangs.
OTHER ABILITIES:
- Super strength: While it's never been explicitly measured, someone who is roughly his equal in terms of raw power once lifted at least seven tons over his head with ease. Who knows what his upper limit is, but it's probably somewhere in the double digits tons wise.
- Inhuman agility: He's a lightning demon, of course he has absurd reflexes.
- Durability: He can take kicks that would shatter concrete and only be knocked off balance.
- Regeneration: He's been known to go from the verge of death to fit to fight in a matter of seconds upon having his powers restored. It's also a running gag in the games version that he never stays dead, which may be related to the fact that part of his soul is in an object elsewhere.
- Weather control: He can control lightning, wind and clouds on a whim, able to create a storm that spanned as far as the eye could see on open ocean purely as a backdrop for his dramatic entrance.
- Magic: While most of his magic is lightning or wind based, he does know a few non-elemental spells. The most notable is Air Hike, which creates a brief platform of magic under his feet for him to spring off of, though the exact abilities and limitations of demonic magic are left fairly vague.
- Flight: This renders Air Hike virtually useless, of course, but it's always good to have multiple options. Curiously, he almost never seems to actually flap his wings when flying, so it's more than likely a levitation effect.
- Shapeshifting: He can, at the very least, change the size of his wings and take on a more human appearance, and can presumably adjust his shape mostly at will within a bipedal body plan. His most notable limitation on this is that he can't manage rounded ears or completely get rid of the purple tint to his skin, and his power is weaker the further he goes from his natural (12' tall, seven limbed) form. He can also turn into a sword, but he's not likely to do this very often.
- Sword production: There is no known limit to the number of identical copies of his original sword that he can pull out of nowhere. Presumably they're made of magic.
- Potential for greatness: A large portion of Alastor's power is ordinarily sealed away in the original copy of his sword, though the fragment of his soul it's attached to now resides in his mirror shard. So long as he has possession of the mirror, he can change to his Underworld Emperor form, which is twice the size of a human and a whole lot more powerful than he is now. Though he doesn't know it, even that isn't his full power. If he's ever in a position of pushing his limits out of any sort of care for another, he'll be able to reach a new level of power capable of smacking down reality warpers.
- What fourth wall?: He's fully aware that the world he lives in is a movie and, as such, is appropriately genre savvy and capable of exploiting the flimsy logic of fictional worlds to produce objects from nowhere for a quick gag, store objects in hammerspace, handwave minor details as long as it's funny or dramatic and not relevant to the plot (or being observed) and change his clothing in less than a second as long as he's offscreen. This basically functions as an IC justification for invoking Rule of Cool or Rule of Funny as a super power.
- Teleportation: He can create invisible portals suitable for transportation or eavesdropping.
- Devil Arm Stuff: If someone picks him up in his sword form, one of three things could happen: they could overpower him and establish dominance to use his powers as they see fit, he could overpower them and possess their body to use as he sees fit or they could possibly reach an agreement and work as equals...
- Telepathy/Empathy: He can communicate telepathically, but primarily does this as a sword or when he otherwise can't speak normally. He also has the ability to sense emotions and can pick up on powerful ones without even trying. Between these two powers, he's also incredibly difficult to fool and can see through even perfect disguises.
- Elemental resistances: He's immune to electricity and cold and resistant to fire. He sprawls out comfortably in freezing weather and survives grappling with a guy who's literally surrounded by fire.
ANYTHING ELSE? Since he's already used to Movieland being malleable based on perceptions of 'what can happen in movies', he had a head start in terms of causing things to happen or appear through force of will.
